FAQ

  • What can I expect during an acupuncture treatment?

The Clinique d'acupuncture sociale d'Hochelaga, welcomes you in an open space.

When you arrive, we'll take a few minutes in private to ask you a few questions about your chief complaint and general health. You can then settle into one of the available reclining chairs, and we'll begin the treatment.

The acupuncturist will first locate the acupuncture points to be used, then disinfect the skin with an alcohol swab. Acupuncture needles are sterile and single-use, so there's no risk of infection. The needles are left in place for a period of time that varies from person to person. If you fall asleep (yes, it happens!), we'll let you enjoy this time of relaxation.

If you'd like us to remove the needles, simply make a gesture to get our attention, and we'll come to you.

After an acupuncture treatment, some people feel tired and "very relaxed", which is a sign that your body has worked hard in the healing process, it is recommended to take it easy in the following hours.

Payment according to the fee schedule is made after the treatment. An insurance receipt will be emailed to you.

  • How to dress for acupuncture?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing so that we can access your arms and legs, up to your knees and elbows.

  • Does it hurt?

A slight pinch is usually felt as the needle passes through the skin, but some people feel nothing at all.

It is quite normal to feel warmth or tingling within a few minutes of needle insertion. This reaction quickly subsides.

  • What can acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture can help you in many ways: it can reduce stress levels or anxiety symptoms, speed healing of acute injuries such as sports injuries, and is also effective in treating chronic pain... It can help improve sleep, digestion (notably by treating gastric reflux). It can also be used to prevent the symptoms of seasonal allergies.

In oncology, acupuncture can be used to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy treatments.

In gynecology-obstetrics, acupuncture can help regulate the menstrual cycle, thus promoting fertility. During pregnancy, acupuncture can help reduce nausea, fatigue, pain and cramps. As the due date approaches, acupuncture can be used to prepare for, or even induce, childbirth.

Le protocole NADA (acupuncture sur 5 points ade l’oreille) est utilisé dans le traitement des dépendances.

The uses and benefits of acupuncture are numerous, and the number of treatments required to treat a condition depends on many factors. We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have during your initial consultation.

  • Is your clinic accessible to people with reduced mobility?

Yes!

Our space is wheelchair-accessible: we have a portable ramp that can be installed at the entrance to the clinic or at the back. Our bathroom is also equipped with two grab bars.

We have a parking space at the rear of the clinic, which can be reserved for you if you have mobility needs.

We ask people with special needs to let us know in advance, so that we can install the ramp or other equipment in advance and assist them if necessary.
